Protecting a Critical Government Department Building
Australia is comprised of various Government Department’s, responsible for the delivery of various services across the nation. Protecting them against potential threats is paramount in ensuring key data and personnel are kept safe.
This particular Government facility is the National office for a head Government Department located in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. Housing over 2,300 staff which pass through the facility daily, there was a requirement to ensure the key entrances were secured, staff were safe and only authorised personnel were able to gain access into the office.
Solution
Installed at the Government department are SpeedStile FL EV entrance gates, across three separate entrance locations within the building. Installed at the Main Entrance four lanes of SpeedStile FL EV gates, three narrow and one wide, with 1800 high glass height and a tempered glass panel bulkhead.

Results
Since installing the entrance control solution, security controls at this Government Department office have increased and so have the overall aesthetics of the front reception areas. The original security risk assessment that was performed highlighted that there was potential for unauthorized persons to gain access to the facility via short glass heights on the previous entrance control and no barrier surrounding the front desks. The solution of the SpeedStile FL entrance gates, fitted with 1800mm high glass and a glass bulkhead alleviated the entrance concerns. Whilst the glass additions to the front counters secured not only those zones but now keep the staff behind the counter safe from threats.
The finished product is better than anticipated from original concept. The install team were fantastic to deal with and worked around any challenges presented. All work was completed out of hours with little to no impact to the building and its occupants.
